UPDATED April 8: The schedule for the 13th annual Arlington Jazz Festival was announced in March 2024, and the multi-day event took place April 4-7 at various places around town. Each year since 2012, the town has celebrated Jazz Appreciation Month with a series of performances organized by its director -- veteran jazz musician Dan Fox of Arlington.

The three-day-festival began at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, with a "Singers Showcase" at the Arlington Center for the Arts, 20 Academy St. The festival closed April 7 with a headliner performance by Grammy Award winner Christian McBride at the Regent Theatre, 7 Medford St.; according to the festival's media contact, Mary Curtin, this performance has been sold out for more than a month. That same night, there was also a free show scheduled at Donut Villa at 9 p.m., by local musicians, at no charge.

McBride, an American jazz bassist and composer, has won eight Grammys throughout his career to date, including recognition for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Improvised Jazz Solo and Instrumental Composition.

Additional highlights of the festival included musical group Espirales from Cuba, making a stop in Arlington during its first U.S. tour, according to a news release.
